What is the difference between a drop-leaf table and a gateleg table?

A gateleg table is a type of drop-leaf table where hinged legs (gates) swing out to support the raised leaves. All our oval gateleg drop-leaf tables use this traditional design, giving you a sturdy vintage dining table that folds down neatly.

What is an oak gateleg table?

An oak gateleg table is a drop-leaf table made from solid oak, with hinged legs that swing out like gates to support the raised leaves. Our restored vintage oak gateleg tables combine a natural wood top with painted legs in your choice of colour.

Do your drop-leaf tables come with chairs?

Our listings are for the table only — we do not currently sell matching chair sets. The flexible sizing and compact folded footprint make these tables easy to pair with chairs you already own or source separately.

Will my table look exactly like the photos?

Not exactly. Each table is a restored vintage piece, so the natural oak grain, wood tone, and character marks will vary from the photos. The overall gateleg shape, proportions, and painted-leg aesthetic will be similar, but your table is a one-off with its own individual charm.

Is a drop-leaf table the same as an extendable dining table?

Not exactly. An extendable table usually has a hidden leaf or pull-out mechanism built into the top. A drop-leaf table has hinged sides that fold down vertically, making it especially compact against a wall when not in use.

Our restored oak drop-leaf dining tables suit kitchens, cottages, flats, and hallways where you need flexible dining space. Fold the leaves down when the room is tight, or open them for everyday meals and larger gatherings.

Each vintage gateleg table is cleaned, restored, and refinished in our London workshop to bring out the natural oak grain while keeping its original character. Use it folded as a slim console, partly open for two, or fully open as a family dining table.

A practical space-saving option if you want a farmhouse kitchen table or a traditional gateleg design without a fixed footprint.

Made to order — fulfilment is typically about 4–5 weeks from your order (occasionally a little longer for larger sizes).

Free UK mainland delivery is included on every table.

If you are in or near London, we may be able to deliver sooner — ask when you order.

For Scotland, the Highlands, or other remote areas, please message us before ordering for a delivery quote.
